Outreach to a needy parish in Mariupol, Ukraine

A member of our parish family, Oleksandr Tomenko, recently presented a gift of $3,000 to St. Panteleimon parish in Mariupol, Ukraine from our parish of St. Vladimir, Philadelphia. After becoming aware they needed funds to install electricity in their church, St Vladimir’s Parish Council agreed to make this donation out of Christian love. Oleksandr is pictured here with the parish priest and congregation of St. Panteleimon parish as he personally delivered our donation.

Future charitable giving:  St. Vladimir’s UO Cathedral in Philadelphia established a Hope Fund Committee this year.  The Hope Fund is an account established by our Parish Council years ago to help those in need.  The food giveaways to our local community during the first year of the pandemic were funded by the Hope Fund.  With our food giveaways ended, the Parish Council established a Hope Fund Committee, led by Karen Ferraro, to further focus on Christian charity in three areas:  our local community in Philadelphia, the Ukrainian community in Philadelphia, and sending help to the people of Ukraine. St. Vladimir’s Ukrainian Orthodox League Chapter, led by president Natalie Bilynsky, volunteered to head Local Community Outreach and their first project is currently underway, collecting school supplies for the children at schools surrounding our parish.  Ruslana Korotinsky volunteered to lead Philadelphia Ukrainian community” Outreach, and Jurij Trypupenko volunteered to lead Outreach to Ukraine, which is in the planning stages of a project working through our Archbishop Daniel of Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA.  The Hope Fund Committee is looking for volunteers to help with these projects!  Reach out to Karen Ferraro or any of the individual committee leaders, or send email to our parish email address:  stvladphila@gmail.com.  Donations can be made to the Hope Fund either online or in the church office. Online donations can be made via our parish website (be sure to select “Give to Hope Fund”): Donate | St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral (stvladimirsphila.org)
